Evidensbaseret forskning i mentorordninger

 Friesland summit

I marts måned 2016 afholder Mentorprogrammet Friesland en international konference om hvordan man i Europa og USA arbejder med at udvikle metoder og med at skaffe evidensbaseret viden om hvordan mentorordninger virker.

On March 17, 2016 the 2nd European Mentoring Summit will take place, organised by the MentorProgramma Friesland. Reason is the growing demand for knowledge about the mentoring methodology, about evidence-based work and research in Europe. Throughout the day, speakers and experts share their views and knowledge on mentoring for young people. The summit offers state-of-the-art research results and success strategies of the mentor methodology.

Mentoring in The Netherlands and in Europe has come of age; there is serious evidence about the added value. This summit offers European mentoring organisations the change to use todays’ opportunity to build new bridges together for the future. The large interest in the first edition in 2014 illustrates the relevance of outcomes of research and practice among European mentoring programmes.

Participants of the summit in 2016 are representatives of the Dutch and European mentoring work field, project managers and boards of VET’s and universities, government, policy makers, social entrepreneurs, foundations and entrepreneurs.

The subject of the summit is ‘Research and Evidence-Based Mentoring’. Keynote speakers of the day will be professor Jean Rhodes of University of Massachusetts (UMass), professor Nico van Yperen of Groningen University (RUG) and dr. Jens Schneider (Osnabrück University).

The summit introduces success strategies of mentoring programmes and provides new insights through the latest research results. Moreover, mentoring programmes present their approach and materials, such as unique mentoring methods, publications, organisational models, partnerships, monitoring activities, research results and more.
A whole day filled with mentoring!

Special feature: this event will be part of the “Knowledge and Innovation Calender” of the Dutch presidency of the EU.

During the summit, the official launching of the European Center for Evidence-Based Mentoring will take place. This Center will do research, will generate knowledge and share evidence-based methodology. In September 2015 the Frisian institutions for higher and vocational education signed a Memorandum of Understanding with prof. dr. Jean Rhodes, director of MENTOR/UMB Center for Evidence-Based Mentoring, and with Mr W. Kooyker, chairman of MENTOR. This MOU marks the collaboration between the Center in the US and the European Center.
